Does An Acupressure Mat Help You Sleep?
This article answers the question: Can an acupressure mat can help you sleep.
When I wrote about my origin story, I was just a normal, average guy, having a lovely early morning cycle, when a sinister van decided to end that experience and crushed me, sending me into the Emergency Room. One of the sentences have stood out to some people who commented, and it was about how my friend introduced me to the Acupressure Mat:
My friend used an acupressure mat to help sleep every single night.
Ah yes, SLEEP. It was a revelation that I didn’t expect from an acupressure mat, and at a time where my own sleep was really troubled, it was a promising proposition.
When you don’t have sleep, I just felt like I didn’t have life. I became a zombie, like I was half-living. And while I worked nights for years as an Emergency room nurse, having no control over your own sleep, like my concussion was teaching me, was affecting me emotionally.
My nightmares were so bad that I would dream of van’s careening into me from all directions, and I was unable to avoid them. It made the times from 700pm to 900pm, just before bed, difficult to deal with, knowing there would be a special type of hell awaiting me.
I was a wreck.
I snuck an acupressure mat into bed with me.
So, I snuck the acupressure mat into my bed, and sure enough, 10 minutes later, I found myself sinking deeper, deeper, deeper. That, plus a magnesium supplement, was my secret. It was like manna from heaven.
Though it was so helpful, I didn’t always use it. I struggled though with consistency, sometimes I didn’t think I needed it, but really…
I needed it every night. Consistency, I found, makes the biggest difference.
Whenever I know I’m going to struggle with sleep (my brain warns me), I use the acupressure mat. I no longer struggle with controlling my sleep, or fear what nightmares await. My sleep, again, has an element of control to it.
